If you dye your sax other than brass colored you are not a sax player.

Don't do it!
by: Saxaphonic

Never, ever fool with the lacquer unless you want to ruin your horn. It will never sound the same again. If you want a colored horn, look for an LA Sax(altos and tenors come in a few colored finishes). Play it before you buy it.

Don't lacquer (or relacquer) your saxophone
by: Anonymous

Leave your saxophone alone. Do not have it lacquered purple, blue, green or yellow. It may look pretty to you (but not to most other players) but chances are it will harm the tone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's no accident that professional saxophonists don't fool around with their saxophones by having them relacquered. How a saxophone looks is irrelevant. How a saxophone feels under your fingers (the action) and the sound it makes are much, much more important. Forget about how your saxophone looks. Concentrate on making it sound good. The only way to do that is to practice, practice and then do more practice.

Are You Really a Sax Player???
by: Anonymous

If You like the sound of your horn, don't laquer it. The sound will change drastically, and not for the better!!! If you want a sax that color, then buy one. I'm not trying to be rude, just to educate you. If you want to be a better sax player, then unless you take lessons, you need to listen to players who know what they are talking about. That's what I did, and now other players now come to me for advice.
