What is the best type to learn?

by David
(Divide, Colorado)

I really want to learn to play the sax but I am confused about wht type I should pursue. I am grown so I feel that I am going to work at this. Not just use it as a passing fad. Any advice or anything is always welcome. Currently I do not own a sax but I am looking for a good used one to learn on.

What ist the best to learn
by: iwive

Hi,
think it depends on what kind of music you want to play. I started with an alto, others start with a tenor. Those are the two common ones to start with.

Starting sax

My advice, listen to a lot of sax music and just decide which one you like the sound of. Everybody always says 'oh start on the alto it's the easiest to learn on' but in my opinion you just play the instrument you want to play, it may be hard but it'll be worth it in the end, and you don't want to be put of because you have to start on an instrument you don't really even want to play.
