When I first took up the saxophone I liked the alto better than the tenor sax. However as I progressed I soon learned that the best of tenor saxophone is much better than the best of alto saxophone simply because of all the members of the saxophone family, only the tenor saxophone has both the brilliance of the alto and the dept of the tenor. I have yet to hear a rich deep alto saxophone tone.
