selmer ligatures

by dave foster
(york uk)

I have purchased a Selmer Alto Kookabura sax collectors model which comes with a super selmer Mouthpiece 'E '.

Am I better off looking at purchasing a leather canvass ligature as opposed to the metal Selmer ligature that came with the mouthpiece if so which make/model do you recommend?

Depending on if you want to play more classical or jazz saxophone will affect what kind of ligature you buy.

Classical Ligatures: Rovner Dark or Light

Jazz Ligatures:Vandoren Optimum Ligature, Ultimate Ligature by Francois Louis, Rovner Eddie Daniels(could be use for classical as well)

I recommend going out and trying different ligs with that mouthpiece to see what one gives you a sound you're happy with. You may also want to invest a mouthpiece first, that is the quickest way to improve your sound. Good luck!
