Clarinet-Double sax
by: Harry

I started playing clarient when i was 7, 1 year later i started playing sax. A few months after that, i was as good at sax as i was on clari. Due to similar breathing/embouchure techniques it is quite easy to swap/play both. Just loosen your embouchure abit and you'll be fine.

Heck Yeah!

I just jumped from the Clarinet to the Bari sax. Love 'em both and it is really fun to say you can play 2 instruments.

I Would Guess So
by: Anonymous

I've never played a woodwind instrument, but I've played the bass guitar, the guitar, the ukulele, and the drums, alongside many other multiinstrumentalists. So while I'm not fortunate enough to play a sax yet, I know that it's not what instrument you play, but how you play it. I'm convinced that Coltrane could've been Coltrane on any instrument because the heart and soul of music, as I see it, is creation. One instrument may speak to you more than another, but as artists it would only hurt us to narrow our options.

Good thinking!

It does actually help you out in some ways. I actually started on the clarinet. Basically, the mouthpiece will help you a lot, since it's quite similar. With the tenor (which I strongly recommend!), you will find that your mouth will be much looser, which I suppose is easier and more difficult in stride. Also, the fingering is completely different, but it's much easier to fly on sax keys than on the clarinet.
