Technique not Brute Force
by: Malcolm

Even someone with a heart complaint, unable to walk up a slight hill without gasping for breath, will have no problem blowing a saxophone for hours. This is partly due to the fact that, to an extent, you don't blow air through the instrument: you set the air that is already in the saxophone vibrating. This is an oversimplification, but there is enough in it to ensure that blowing the saxophone is less of a cardiovascular exercise than running hill-sprints, and only a little more cardiovascular than watching hill sprints on TV.

sax exercise and happiness

Thanks Malcolm for your explanation. In fact my hope was that practicing sax tenor can be a part
of a good exercise program for people who have a health condition where increase the heartbeat is a good thing. Like diabete. But as you say it's not much . But it is better than nothing.

One thing is sure. More i practice.Better i feel.
