Playing low C on saxophone

I just started playing alto sax. I had a sax from my HS days that I had re-padded. However I cannot hit the low C for weeks now. How can I know if its my inexperience or something wrong with the sax?

Low C

My bet is that there is a leaking pad somewhere. Your repair tech probably did something wrong (no offence intended) as low C isn'ta very hard note to hit. I used to struggle with low C so one day I had a look at the low C tone hole and noticed the leak, got the pad replaced and what do you know, low C, fine.
