mouthpiece sizes

i need to buy a mouthpiece and have seen a lot of different sizes for tenor saxophones . mainly the 4c and 5c. i am a clarinet player who is going to be playing tenor in a high school marching band. If it helps, i usually play on a 3.5 vandoren clarinet reed. what is the difference between them and which do you think would be better for me?

Mouthpiece sizes
by: Harry

Unfortunately i can't tell you what size (i'm presuming tip size) to purchase as i don't play tenor. But the different sizes refer to the distance between the mouthpiece and the reed. I suggest that you start off with a smaller tip opening. (ie: the reed is closer to the mouthpiece).

Hope it helps.

PS: Just go in to a local music store and ask them, they should be able to suggest you a sizen and/or a mouthpiece.
