Is it me or the sax

I have been playing clarinet for many years. i just recently picked up a alto sax. I am almost positive i am doing every thing right but it is very hard to get out the correct octave. Also the pads look pretty old would that affect me.

It most likely is the need to be repadded and adjusted for leaks. Cosmo

yeah it does seem like you need to be repadded. also leaks can effect your sound, but not the octaves. hows your octave key? i play alto sax.
