Is a "Cecilia" sax brand any good?

I'm looking to buy a beginner sax, but one that actually has quality...any suggestions? Not looking to pay more than $700/800.

Cecilia any good?
by: Anonymous

I bought a Cecilio Soprano on ebay for $300. Being a self-taught sax tech I noticed one key not working due to its hitting some obstacle (post?). I got out my file and filed it down so it worked. Since then I've had no problems.; Overall its not bad, playable, good sound etc. Might take a little extra effort to blow, but worth the money.

NO

In a word, no. It's just another one if the generic Chinese horns that flooding the market. It's a poorly built horn with aweful intonation. Buy yourself a Selmer or Yanagisawa.

Very Good

A Sax is only as good as it's user and most instruments of any quality can be made to sound great if the lip is great. Patience and talent, at least 1 week. I have a Cecilia Sax with a La Voz Mouth piece and it sounds better than my
Cannonball Knight 1998, and as good as my old Yamaha, Yas 52 using a Rico number 3 reed. It's as heavy as a professional sax and sturdy. If you are no good, the sax is no good, even if it cost thousands.
