How to play Sade Smooth Operator on saxophone

Hi, just started to learn to play the alto sax, I would like to attempt to learn to play smooth operator or love is king by sade, I know these are done in the Tenor sax, and I have found the transpose chart to transpose them to the Alto sax, but as I am such a novice and dont yet fully understand the transpose stuff etc, I need to know what scale and key to use for the alto sax, can any one help please?
