Free Alto Saxophone Sheet Music
Can you really find free alto saxophone sheet music? Sometimes you can, but often what is called "free" sheet music winds up having a price tag somewhere.
Some websites offer downloadable sheet music for the alto saxophone for a yearly fee. Others offer sheet music for a small price.
Most likely, any free alto saxophone sheet music will be older songs that are in the public domain. This means that there is not an active copyright on the song because it was written before copyrights were used. Examples of public domain songs are "Happy Birthday" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic." Many of the songs a person might want to know how to play, like many classical pieces, are public domain songs, so this isn't altogether a bad thing.
For instance, one website called 8notes, currently offers the Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin in the form of a GIF file. It has to be printed one sheet at a time, and consists of several pages. It includes a piano score along with the solo for alto sax. If you want a higher quality PDF file to print, you have to subscribe to the site. Still, it is a nice piece of free sheet music.
Other available songs include "Coming Around the Mountain," "Silent Night," and "When the Saints Go Marching In." Another type of song that is often available as free alto saxophone sheet music are religious pieces created to be used in worship services. Generally, these will be lesser known songs if they are really free of charge.
Still, can you get those newer, hip jazz tunes or pop rock songs in the form of free alto saxophone sheet music? Maybe. There are a few great tunes out there that can be printed freely from the internet, but in most cases, the better known modern music will have some sort of a price attached.
