Coloured Sax

I don't think colour makes a difference from what I gather. I am only a beginner though!

From a clarinet player whos done research

The brands that come in colors, usually are of worse quality and not worth your time. I myself don't play saxophone but from what I've heard of colored clarinets and trumpets and what I have read while searching for an alto, it's better to stay away from colored instruments.
If the reason you want a colored instrument is because of the price, search on ebay very carefully for a used name brand instrument.

On colored Saxes
by: Anonymous

The color effects the tone and timber of the instrument. This is why a gold lacquered sax will sound different from a silver one. So yes the color and lacquer will effect the sound.

ALSO, BEWARE QUALITY! I know there is a colored horn out there on the web for like $300. I saw this and was excited, but when looking into it found out that no reputable store will sell the sax because it is too likely to fall apart (like keys falling off) and no store wants to pay for the repairs (under warranty). SO be sure you know what you are buying.

No. A red sax is for decorative purposes only.
