buescher Aristocrat serial number 426114

I was given this alto sax. It is ready to play. It has been adjusted and the pads are good. There are no dents. I have been trying to read up on this sax, but becames confused. Is this a good instrument for a beginner if it is all set up and ready to go? What would the value of this horn be?
