Best sax player in the world

Has there ever been a sax player to match Ace Cannon?
Nope, not in my book. This new guy I've heard, Kenny G- sort of sounds like a harmonica compared to a symphony orchestra if compared to Ace Cannon. Maybe it's just the generally shallow style of todays music that ires me or the youthful folly that seems to permeate areas of serious endeavor and gain acclaim while the seriously talented artists of the past are dismissed as too ancient. How sad.

the ace cannon i recall played some easy stuff to listen to but was no match for boots randolph. if you want read about the really great ones go to google search for- jean moremans. he played in the late 1800 to 1900s and played for sousa. ace would have never made the grade in that company. another site is " legendary saxophone players"..these were the truly great ones.

I prefer Sidney Bechet and the Big Man - Clarence Clemons. Charlie "Bird" Parker was also one of the best, as were John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderly. Among modern musicians, Branford Marsalis (son of Ellis and brother of trumpet player Winton Marsalis) is excellent, as well.
