alto or tenor saxophone

by siobhan
(staffordshire UK)

So i've decided to take up the saxophone and wondering what the difference in sound is like between the alto and the tenor. I understand that most people start with the alto but that its acceptable for adults to start learning on the tenor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!I'm a teacher of music in Ukraine and i strongly recommend you choose a tenor saxophone if you are looking for the easier way. from my own 10 years experience of teaching music i know, that tenor sax is much easier to produce quality sound for the most of my pupils.but if you learnt produce a real alto sound it will be great !
