Adolphe Sax

by Stephanie Anderson
(Aberdeen, Scotland, UK)

I have recently inherited my Grand Fathers Adolphe Sax, I need to find out how much it is valued at for house insurance and would be interesting to find out more about it as I have no idea about musical instruments. It has a serial No.1015 and says it was made in the 1900's, It is brass but the markings are quite faded, it also has an address 84 Rue Myaha, Paris. Would anyone be able to help?

Hi,
greetings to the beautiful Scotland. Your instrument is not so old as you might guess, it dates back to arround 1928.
The value depends very much on it´s condition and of which type it is. There are existing Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophones?
Is it damaged ? Is is laquered or silvered ?
Is it playable or in need of a repair ? Does it come with a case and accessories ?
Contact me and answer above questions, then perhaps I can give you some more information, regards, Liesel
