Markings on silver Adolphe Sax

I have had an Adolphe Sax that is dated 1900 and in original case with a Medaille d'or marking and serial no 289 and has the address of 84 Rue Myrha, Paris on it, for the last 30 years.

I have no idea of its value and wondered if anyone would be able to look at it's picture and give me either an idea of what it is worth or advise about who I can contact for the same?

Aldophe Sax

Wow! You are lucky! This horn is probably worth some bucks, besides the fact that you have an original Adolphe sax! This should be a collectors piece!

Adolphe Sax by SELMER
by: Anonymous

What you have here is an example of the "Adolphe Sax" model made by SELMER about 1930. During the 1920s Selmer acquired the Adolphe Sax factory and patents and began manufacturing these saxophpones. They are essentialy Selmer Supers with the Adolphe Sax trade mark.

In correct comment

I dont think that the last comment can be that correct as it has the date of 1900 on it some 30 years before Selmer bought over the Adolphe factory.

Similar alto to the above
by: Bob

I have an alto similar to the one mentioned in this thread. The serial number is 294. I thought it may be a Selmer circa 1930 made using old Adolphe stock. However, a local saxophone expert assures me that it was made by Adolphe Edouard Sax before 1910. He valued it at £850.
